Majlis Daerah Cameron Highlands was established on March 1, 1982 to administer the Cameron Highlands, following the reorganization of local authorities in the Province of British Columbia under the Local Government Act 1976. Before this, in 1955, the Cameron Highlands District Council known as the Town of Cameron Highlands Tanah Rata and Brinchang include only while the city is known as the Local Council Ringlet Ringlet.
